Carrie’s Story

Now reclaiming her life at Grace Place, our residential program for women seeking restoration, Carrie thanks God that she has found the tools and support she needs to live a meaningful life.
She struggled with her self-image from a young age and was introduced to drugs by a friend at college.
“I told someone I met that I was struggling with my weight, and she was like, ‘Here, try these,’” she remembers. “Her dad was a doctor, so I started taking them. I didn’t know anything about physical dependency. But I found out that in real life they are very harmful.”
For 20 years, Carrie struggled with addiction to opiates which eventually led her to using meth, which was not only cheaper, but gave her a false sense of energy and well-being.
“I totally abandoned my family so that I was isolated from them to the point where I felt that my kids were better off with my family than with me. It drew me further away from God. He’s always working in your life, but you have to take active steps to seek him. But every grace He’s shown me has gotten me to this point.”
“When I got here, I knew it was a God thing.”
Now Carrie is reunited with family and talks to her kids every day. “Those relationships are healed, and I experience blessings every day!”
“I pray for this house every day,” Carrie says. “This place is unique. It’s all rooted and centered in God. The Holy Spirit is welcome here and abides here, and that’s the game-changer.”
“Today, I serve the Lord. My purpose now is to do His work, because He’s the answer to everything. I’m fully conscious of that now, and I’m willing to do the work to stay grounded in Him.”
Thank you for providing Carrie with a new start through your prayers and support!
