Kenneth’s Story

Kenneth

When Kenneth came into the Mission’s Ex-Offender Re-Entry program, he was “looking for a better chance.”

“They gave me a place to stay, a roof over my head, and food to eat. They ask me all the time if there’s anything they can do for me. It’s a great opportunity for me to learn, to grow, to deal with people who are willing to help.”

Born and raised in Eastern Kentucky, Kenneth was introduced to marijuana as a teen and started hanging out with “the wrong crowd.” Marijuana led to pills. Addiction led to stealing. And stealing led to incarceration.

“That’s how the doors opened for me to come here, “Kenneth says. “I made a decision that I didn’t want to go back down that road. I was done with that life. These people helped me come here to try and better myself.”

“It was like I was at home.”

“They asked me each and every day what they could do to help. They offered opportunities to go work. Now I have a full-time job and I’m saving money toward a vehicle.

Kenneth’s family is in Indiana and he talks with them nearly every day. “They stand behind me and support me. They’re glad I made this decision to come here. They tell me how proud they are of me and how grateful they are for a place like this.”

Being at the Mission has also helped Kenneth reconnect with the Lord. “I pray every morning and every night, and sometimes through the day. I feel like He’s put me in a place that He wants me to be in and He’s going to continue to keep me on the right road and will continue to guide me.”

Thank you for providing Kenneth with a new start through your prayers and support!
