How to Help Panhandlers

June 19, 2017

Have you ever come across someone panhandling and wondered how you can help? Check out a new public service announcement from the City of Lexington about helpful (and hurtful) ways to give.

Help direct people in need to one of the 558 free shelter beds or 15 free meal sites, including the Lexington Rescue Mission. Click here for a postcard or a Community Resource Guide you can print and keep in your purse or wallet to give to people in need so they can find the immediate help they need as well as support to get back on their feet.

Want to do more? Help support our efforts to get people off the streets, employed, and into permanent housing by donating to this vital ministry. We can't do this work without the gifts of individuals in the community, which make up 72% of our annual budget. Or get involved as a volunteer, and use your time and gifts to help people take steps out of poverty and homelessness. We depend upon volunteers to help welcome guests, mentor residents, connect job-seekers to employment, pray for our guests, and so much more.
