Lexington Rescue Mission

Reaching Hearts. Changing Lives.

A Chance for New Life

March 14, 2017

With four children to take care of, all Larry wanted was a job. “I want to make an honest living and provide for my family.” But there was something keeping Larry from his goals: a criminal record. It was nearly impossible to find work. His first stop was a ministry called Jubilee Jobs. “Every place they sent me to wouldn’t hire me because of my record. So they sent me here to the Mission.”

Through our Advance Lexington staffing service, Larry landed a job at Old World Timber within days. He started as a temporary employee, but they were so impressed with his work, they hired him on permanently. Angie Dennis, our Director of Staffing Services, says, “Larry has a great attitude and a big smile every day.” “Old World Timber is a nice place,” Larry says. “Small and personable, but growing. It’s a place I want to stay so I can continue to provide for my family.”

When asked about the Mission’s jobs program, Larry says emphatically, “It’s a blessing!” “They help provide people with honest jobs to make an honest living so you can be a productive citizen of Lexington.”
